Ferocactus latispinus var. latispinus, commonly known as the Devil’s Tongue Barrel Cactus, is a species of barrel cactus native to Mexico. It is a solitary, globe-shaped cactus with 15-25 ribs, each adorned with short yellow or reddish spines and tipped with a central, long, reddish-brown spine. The species has a yellow or pinkish purple flower that appears in the spring and is pollinated by bees. t is a popular choice for cacti collectors and is often grown in pots or containers. It can reach up to 2 feet (60 cm) in height and can live for up to 20 years with proper care.It is an easy-to-grow cactus, thriving in well-drained soil and full sun but should be kept relatively dry during its dormant period in winter. It is commonly used in landscaping and gardening and makes an excellent addition to rock gardens.
