Description
Schlumbergera truncata, commonly known as Thanksgiving Cactus, is a popular succulent houseplant recognized for its vibrant purple blooms that typically flower around the Thanksgiving holiday, adding a festive touch to any home. This cactus thrives in well-draining soil and prefers bright, indirect light, which helps promote healthy growth and abundant flowering. Unlike traditional cacti, Thanksgiving Cactus enjoys higher humidity, making it ideal for indoor environments. It requires moderate watering, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. The plant features unique, serrated leaf segments that give it a distinctive appearance and contribute to its overall charm. With proper care, Schlumbergera truncata can bloom profusely, showcasing its beautiful purple flowers that last for several weeks. This low-maintenance plant is perfect for both novice and experienced gardeners, bringing color and joy to indoor spaces during the holiday season and beyond.
