Description
Buddha Bamboo (Bambusa ventricosa), sometimes referred to as Buddha Belly Bamboo, is a rare and lovely variety of clumping bamboo distinguished by its characteristic enlarged internodes that resemble a “Buddha belly.” This bamboo has a lush, dense growth habit and can reach heights of 30 to 50 feet. A visually striking addition to any garden, the vivid green stems can display an impressive girth of up to 6 inches at their fullest. Buddha bamboo grows best in rich, well-drained soil and is more comfortable in full sun than in partial shade. Once established, it requires regular watering but is relatively low maintenance and exhibits good resistance to drought. Because of its dense foliage, this species is perfect for creating ornamental borders, hedges, and privacy screens.
